Having just returned from what I like to think of as an experiment in consumerism, I have to say that I had forgotten how much FUN shopping for no real reason is. "No I don't need it, but I want it and I shall have it, thank you very much." I suspect this may make Lent feel slightly more tough than I had imagined and I've decided that I will put all my purchases from New York away for Lent, so that I don't rely on them to satisfy my cravings.
It just doesn't seem right to start no new shoes with two new pairs of boots...
Gone shopping?

Read Nonew shoes 1st in the Methodist Recorder and then went to the site to find what you both plan to do with the money you have saved by buying only essentials which really are so little but the site does not tell me . I am sure that two such people are not planning on spending that 'saved' cash on themselves and having a massive shopping spree once Lent is over . Maybe you are joining in Christian Aid's Count your blessings or what about MRDF or a direct contribution to someone working with the needy . After living simply among the poor I know I dread being lulled back by the 'Money God' but how hard it is .
